NEW COMPOSITION: TIME SONG
This new short composition has been commissioned by Manchester-based recorder virtuoso, John Turner, for a trio of musicians that also includes Nicholas Clapton (countertenor) and Jonathan Price (‘cello). The text is concerned with the notion of ‘unequal hours’ in both literal and experiential terms. The commission has been made possible with funds from the Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust.
TIME SONG will be recorded in Manchester in September 2008 for inclusion on composer Elis Pehkonen’s new CD project, Song of Songs. Concert performances are planned for 2009.

COMMUNITY MUSIC: VITAL COMMUNITIES
VITAL COMMUNITIES is a major long term participatory arts and research project taking place in Cambridgeshire. Jane continues to work as part of a team of artists, each of whom undertakes a residency in one of ten communities across the County.
A sixth residency is booked for the autumn and winter terms of the 2008-09 academic year. Jane will collaborate with visual artist, Jane Thewlis, to involve children and other community members of the village of Parson Drove in designing, constructing and creating music for a new large-scale sound sculpture.
